Harry C. White was born in Pocomoke City, Maryland. He got his first taste of house moving in 1972 when he lived in Crisfield, Maryland. At the time, Harry was 27 years old and had been employed in a crab house, several gas stations, and a vehicle junk service. He was ready for a change. When he began working for Richard "Dick" Swift, who owned a house moving business, he knew he had found his trade.
After working for Dick for several years, Harry returned to Pocomoke and started his own business in 1982. Since then, he has been moving and jacking up houses all over the Delmarva area. He will move everything from a small bungalow to a two-story, 50-ton house and wooden-frame houses to brick houses.
One highlight of his career came in 1992 when he moved 6 two-story hotels all at one time from Ocean City, Maryland, to Delaware, a distance of about 15 miles. This was a record for the most buildings moved at one time in Ocean City.
As well as the house moving business, Harry owns a demolition business and a surface mining business.
Harry looks forward to serving Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia for many years to come.
